Small group
sessions

TALA Soccer Training believes in the benefit of small group training sessions as the most holistic path of player development.

Small Group Sessions are intentionally designed around a specific topic with corresponding learning outcomes based on a moment of the game and key player qualities, behaviors, and actions. Each session will provide players with game-based activities designed to develop a deeper understanding of the attacking, defending, and/or transitional moments of the game while improving their technical skills and tactical awareness. Players will learn through playing small-sided games and phased developmental core activities that present game-realistic, game-like challenges to find and create solutions around. Given the fluid nature of soccer, the topic of the session will remain the same while the presented challenge and solutions will change throughout the course of play leading to the development of individual creativity, increased speed of decision-making, and a deeper understanding of situational awareness.

Small Group Sessions offer players the opportunity to read the game in real-time while developing technical skills and tactical awareness by playing under pressure. TALA Soccer Coaches will promote active learning through the use of open-ended, divergent questions, and guided facilitation during breaks in play. Small Group Sessions optimize holistic player development by creating environments that require the utilization of each aspect of the game: technical, tactical, physical, social, and cognitive development. An understanding of fluid decision-making, the benefit of demonstrating composure while playing under pressure, and learning by doing will permeate each session.
